The Bionic Eye to Appear at The Commercial UAV Expo Europe

The Bionic Eye, the subsidiary of The Bionic Group specialising in UAV distribution and consultation, will be showcasing its latest technology at The Commercial UAV Expo Europe this April.

Held this year in Amsterdam between the 10th to 12th of April, the expo bills itself as “the onlypan-European event for commercial drone professionals,” The Commercial UAV expos are based on a formula started in the US in 2015, and the previous one, held last year in Brussels, attracted many different drone specialists, featuring the latest technology sector-wide. It will also feature numerous different professional speakers in these fields.

In addition to exhibitors, there will be talks on everything from developing technology to changing regulations in the UAV sector.

Andrew Eio, Director of The Bionic Eye: “We’re excited to be exhibiting at the Commercial UAV Show in Amsterdam. We’ve seen a significant increase in requests for UAV solutions to empower businesses to make key decisions.”

David Hovanesian, Business Development Manager, added: “As UAVs are taking an expanding role in many sectors, more capabilities and functionalities are being opened up for commercial gain. Often, pilots will find that the gear they use is inefficient at doing what they intend. At The Bionic Eye, we work back from the project requirement for the desired deliverables, and custom design and build an airframe that will do exactly what they need, as efficiently as possible. We are delighted to take part in this growing demand for specialist UAVs.”

The Bionic Eye Exhibits at BSC Expo 2018

    BSC Expo web

Considering its parent company, The Bionic Group was once based in Pinewood Studios, the home of so many famous films, it’s only fitting that The Bionic Eye appeared at this year’s BSC Expo. The BSC Expo is the UK’s premier film and tv production trade fair, held at the Battersea Evolution in London on 2nd and 3rd of February.

Manning a stall at the Expo, The Bionic Eye held on display a sample of the services they can provide to the film industry. As David Hovanesian, the Business Development Manager of The Bionic Eye’s parent company, The Bionic Group explained: “we want to meet the people who are currently actively involved in the film industry; to spread what’s already renowned as a well-known and well appreciated solution in Hollywood and spread that in the UK.”

The star of the show was the Gryphon Dynamics Airframe, The Bionic Eye being its distributor. As the preferred choice on Hollywood feature films thanks to its state of the art manufacturing and design technology, giving it incredible ultra-heavy lift capabilities and reliability in a variety of environments, ultra-heavy payload, and a modular design allowing it to be packed and unpacked easily and configured in a host of different ways to suit a variety of challenging needs.

As Andrew Eio, director of The Bionic Eye explained: “now that The Bionic Eye has been established for 4 years and is expanding, we want to re-engage with the film industry with the unique flexibility of the Gryphon Dynamics, the Rolls-Royce of drone air frames.”

“They are super-engineered UAV airframes. The key is flexibility and endurance, and even with professional movie camera systems and lens and follow focus, they can fly for 15-25 minutes, which is unheard of with other systems.”

Visitors to The Bionic Eye stall could also submit their names for a chance to win a free PowerVision PowerEgg UAV. On the more commercial end of The Bionic Eye’s services, the PowerEgg combines the revolutionary 4K camera with an elegant, portable, and unique egg-shaped design.

    Cygnus Homes Open Day

The Bionic Group were delighted to be present at Cygnus Homes’ open day, hosted for their supply chain at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford. In a day highlighting Cygnus’s exciting strategy going forward, Andy Ling and David Hovanesian spoke about The Bionic Group’s contribution.

We demonstrated an early development version of the Pattern Book, a customer experience tool, which we are designing / developing with Cygnus. The customer will be able to use the Pattern Book to configure a Cygnus house type according to their preferences. As the customer selects an option, such as cladding type, numbers of bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom fittings and wall colours choices, a virtual interactive model builds to show them what their choices will actually look like. The customer can virtually view the exterior of the house before going inside to look in and around each room.  They can also configure and change their options whilst they virtually tour the house. A further development of the Pattern Book will be to link the customers choices direct to the manufacturers / suppliers for ordering purposes.
